Approach to Eyes with No Light Perception Vision after Trauma
M.D. Proffessor, Gülhane Military Medical Academy Ophthalmology Department, Etlik Ankara/TURKEY
In this review, critical issues in approaching the traumatized eye presenting with no light perception (NLP) are discussed in the light of recent literature and the author's clinical experience. It should not be forgotten that an eye with NLP might gain LP vision after primary repair, that the decision for enucleation/evisceration should be reserved only for irreparable eyes with NLP, and that visual gain might be obtained in those eyes that undergo timely advanced vitreoretinal surgery.
