2001 , Vol 9 , Num 1
Material and Methods:The patients included in this study were operated and followed between November 1995-November 1999. From 326 patients that could be followed regularly, 186 eyes of 186 patients were included in this study. Mean age of patients was 47.4 years (2-77 years), from them 133 (%71.5) were male and 53 (%28.5) of them were female subjects. Mean follow up period was 22 months (range 2-44 months).
Results:Of operated patients as early postoperative complications hypotony was found in 26 (%13.9), increased intraocular pressure (IOP) in 23 (%12.36), corneal edema in 26 (%13.9), intravitreal bleeding in 14 (%7.52) and intraocular inflammation in 4 (%2.15) patients.
Conclusion:After pars plana vitrectomy operation, early post operative complications can seriously affect long term results. Diagnosis and treatment of early post operative complications is very important for long term prognosis. Keywords : Pars plana vitrectomy, Complications, Diabetic retinopathy, PVR
