CHOROIDAL HEMANGIOMAS
Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları ABD, İZMİR
In this study, patients with solitary choroidal hemangiomas were presented and photocoagulation indications and results were discussed. Six eyes of six patients with solitary choroidal hemangiomas that were examined at our retina clinic between June 1992 - January 1999 were included in the study. Argon laser photocoagulation was performed on and around the mass in cases with serous detachment.
Four of six patients were visually symptomatic at the time of diagnosis. In three eyes there were serous detachment on and around the mass. Argon laser photocoagulation was performed three times in one patient , twice patient, and just once in one patient. Complete resorption of serous fluid was achieved in all of these patients. In one symptomatic case, cystoid macular edema was present. We still follow-up this patient without therapy.
Argon laser photocoagulation may yield succesful anatomic and functional results in solitary choroidal hemangiomas with serous retinal detachment. Keywords : Choroidal hemangioma, photocoagulation, retina
