More than 500.000 vitrectomy procedures are performed every year around the world. Vitrectomy is a special surgery which may cause intraoperative and postoperative complications. Machemer's invented equipment performing infusion-suction-cutter (VISC) which was done aspiration, cutting and infusion all together in 1970. Then, vitrectomy machines entered in a process of development. This article mentions about main units and working principles of vitrectomy machine.
