Changing Concepts in Laser Treatment: Retinal Sparing Micropulse Laser Photostimulation
Prof. Dr., Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı Öğretim Üyesi
Continues wave (CW) thermal laser treatment still has important
place in the treatment of macular edema secondary to various
retinal diseases, but may be associated with some serious
adverse events. In order to prevent or decrease the incidence of
these adverse eff ects, important improvements and modifications
were done in conventional destructive thermal laser such as subthreshold
micropulse laser tecnology. Micropulse laser does not
cause collateral thermal damage, and produces photostimulation
rather than photocoagulation
