THE RESULTS OF CLASSICAL RETINAL DETACHMENT SURGERY PERFORMED TO 113 RHEGMATOGENOUS RETINAL DETACHMENTS

Purpose: To evaluate anatomic and functional success and surgical complications of classical detachment surgery performed to rhegmatogenous retinal detachment cases.Method: Classical detachment surgery was performed to 113 rhegmatogenous retinal detachment cases m our clinic between July 1997 and November 1998. Postoperative follow-up period was between 6-23 months (average 14.9±2 months).
Results: Anatomic success was achieved in 96 cases (%85). Functional success was achieved in 72 cases (%63.7). Various complications were seen in 32 cases (%28.3).
Conclusion: It is considered that choosing appopriate cases and surgical experience are important factors to achieve functional and anatomic success.
