Dr., İstanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Göz Hastalıkları Kliniği, Istanbul, Türkiye Purpose: To evaluate the effects of three doses of intravitreal ranibizumab (RAN) and afl ibercept (AFL) on pigment epithelial detachment (PED) in neovascular age related macular degeneration (N-AMD).
Methods: We searched 92 patients? data with PED and n-AMD. The patients with RAP and PCV, irregular visits, the history of intravitreal injection or PDT were excluded. There were 13 patients at AFL and 11 patients at RAN group. Data on BCVA, CMT, PED types and height, intraretinal and subretinal fluid were evaluated.
Results: The mean CMT and BCVA were not signifi ciantly different between groups before injections (p> 0.05). At both groups the change of CMT was significiantly different after injections (AFL p: 0.025, RAN p: 0.01). The BCVA change was not significiantly different at AFL group (p: 0,063) but it was signifi ciantly different at RAN group (p: 0.007). After injections, PED height change was significiantly different at each group (AFL p: 0.002, RAN p:0.003). The change of fibrovascular PEDs was similar to serous PEDs.
Conclusion: At AFL and RAN groups, after initial 3 doses of injections, the changes of morphological features were similar, RAN was better for BCVA changes.
