RETINAL DISEASES AND DIODE LASER
1Mersin Ü.Tıp Fak. Göz Hastalıkları ABD.2SSK Ankara Göz Hast. 1. Göz Kliniği Diode lasers are relatively recent innovations in ophthalmology. The diode laser delivers energy in the infrared (790-950 nm) energy range. The principal site of energy absorption is melanin pigment in the retinal pigment epithelium and choroid. Transpupillary slit lamp, transpupillary laser indirect ophthalmoscopic, transscleral and endoscopic delivery modes have been developed. Clinical trials in retinal vascular diseases and retinal detachment surgey, have been encouraging. Its prime advantage is logistic by providing a clinically useful source of laser photocoagulation that is compact, portable and less expensive. Keywords :
