Anterior Segment ischemia (ASI) is a rare but serious complication which may be seen after extra ocular muscle surgery or retinal detachment surgery. ASI, which devolop because of interruption of humour aqueous secrection due to reduced blood flow to the anterior segment progresses even to phythisis. The incidence of severe ASI after retinal detachment surgery without any predisposing factors is 1%, and that of mild ASI is 5%. In this text; pathogenesis, clinic, predisposing factors, prophylaxis and treatment of ASI is reviewed.
