Interestingly Charles Bonnet himself also developed similar symptoms following visual impairment in his later years. The syndrome was later named as 'Charles Bonnet syndrome' (CBS) by De Morsier in 1938. It is characterised by complex visual hallucinations in visually impaired patients which are recognised as unreal. Lack of stimulus, cerebral functional pathology and social isolation are thought to be among the etiological factors. In this report we evaluated a patient who observed Charles Bonnet syndrome after bilateral anterior ischemic optic neuropathy.
