Postoperative Complications of Cataract Surgery in Diabetic Patients

Diabetes is an increasingly common systemic disease, and cataracts are one of the most common causes of visual impairment in these patients. Alhough advances in cataract surgery, diabetic patients have a higher risk of complications compared to nondiabetics. Anterior segment inflammation and bleeding, anterior capsule contraction, progression of retinopathy, macular edema are the most common postoperative complications. It is clear that cataract surgeons should be aware of this complications and subsequent limitation of vision.
