Material and Methods: The patients included in this study were operated and followed between November 1995-November 1999. Out of 326 patients, 186 eyes of 186 patients that could be followed regularly were included. Mean age of patients was 47.4 years (2-77). 133 (%71.5) were male and 53 (%28.5) were female subjectes. Mean follow up period was 22 months (2-44).
Results: As early post operative complications hypotony was found in 26 (%13.9), increased IOP in 23 (%12.36 ), corneal edema in 26 (%13.9), intravitreal bleeding in 14 (%7.52) and intraocular inflammation in 4 (%2.15) patients.
Conclusion: After pars plana vitrectomy operation, early post operative complications can seriously effect long term results and treatment of these complications is very important for long term prognosis. Keywords : Pars plana vitrectomy, Complications, Diabetic retinopathy, PVR
