Dr., Kayseri Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Göz Hastalıkları, Kayseri, Türkiye A 46-year-old man presented to our clinic with a chest trauma during a car traffi c accident 2 hours ago and a complaints of decreased visual acuity more pronounced in left eye. The patient?s visual acuity was 20/32 on the right and hand motion on the left eye. On the fundus examination, yellow-white patch-like lesions, tiny retinal hemorrhages and macular edema were observed bilaterally, more prominent in left eye. The patient was diagnosed with Purtscher?s retinopathy based on absence of head trauma, associated retinal findings, and assisted imaging methods. In this case report, it is aimed to present the diagnosis and treatment outcome of the patient with improved optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus fl uorescein angiography (FFA) imaging methods with dramatic visual enhancement in the short term with early systemic steroid therapy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of Purtscher?s retinopathy, which is the treatment that started in the earliest period literature.
