PREVALENCE OF POSTERIOR VITREOUS DETACHMENT IN MYOPIA AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH AGE
Harran Üniversitesi Tıp Fak. Göz Hast. Ana Bilim Dalı
This study was carried out to research the relationship prevalence of posterior vitreous detachment with age and myopia degree. On 97 eyes where refraction errors were more than - 1 dioptry the evalustion of posterior vitreoretinal interface was examined by B scan ultrasound. 124 eyes were also examined as controls where refraction errors were between 0 and - 1 dioptry. In 36 of the myopic eyes (%37.11) and in 21 of the 124 of control group eyes (%16.93) posterior vitreous detachment was determined. When the obtained data were evaluated with the khi square test; statisticly significance was found (X2= 11.57, p<0.001) refraction errors were investigated eccording to patient with posterior vitreous detachment mean age was (62.48 13.37) year (between 0 to - 1 dioptry), 60.00 12.18 year (between - 1 to -3 dioptry ), 57.95 13.6 year (between -3 to -8 dioptry) and 52.50 10.76 year (in more than -8 dioptry). Between posterior vitreous detachment onset age and mypia degree, statisticly positive correlation was found (r0.31, p=0.018) and the lineer regression formula was found as(y=63.01+ 1.01x). Freguency of posterior vitreous detachment influences the development and prognosis of the various vitreoretinal disorders, its being determined and foliowed-up has significance.
