3DÜTF Mikrobiyoloji AD. Toxoplasmosis is an infection by obligatory intracellular parasite, Toxoplasma gondii. The characteristic fundus lesion is focal necrotizing retinitis in ocular toxoplasmosis. In this study, 44 ocular toxoplasmosis cases that had been followed-up and treated at The Ophthalmology Department of Dicle University were evaluated. Twenty-two (%50) of cases had active retinochoroiditis and positive serum IgM liter. These cases were treated with combination of sulphadiazine and pyrimethamine for 4-6 weeks. Of 22 cases, 6 (%27.27) had foveal lesion, 2 (%9.09) had papillitis requiring systemic prednisone treatment. After the treatment, regression of vitreal reaction and reduction of the diameter of the lesion occurred all cases. Of 22 cases, 14 (%63.63) had negative serum IgM titer.
