Intravitreal Steroids for Exudative Age-related Macular Degeneration
Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Göz Hastalıkları A.D., Bursa, Uzm. Dr.
Intravitreal steroids have increasingly been applied as treatment for exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD) because of their anti-proliferative, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effects. Intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide has been shown to decrease the need for retreatment when it is used in combination with photodynamic therapy. This review summarizes the recent clinical data and new developments related with intravitreal steroid use in exudative AMD.
